All students and recent graduates (within 2 years of graduation) aged 18 to 30, and from all disciplines are eligible to apply.

Both individual and group applications are welcome.


Proposals will be reviewed by a steering committee comprising faculty members from Yale-NUS College, National University of Singapore (NUS) and Nanyang Technological University (NTU).

*The selection criteria below is not an exhaustive list, but we recommend that it be used as a guide when preparing your proposals.

1. contribution to singapore history

All projects must be related to Singapore history. Participants are encouraged to examine a variety of historical narratives: this includes reinterpreting mainstream narratives or exploring less known aspects of Singapore’s past.

2. presentation format

A variety of outputs will be considered. Participants are encouraged to use non-traditional mediums of presentation (e.g. film, documentary, photography, theatre, visual art, installations, writing, music, dance, app-directed walking tours, multimedia, interdisciplinary projects, etc.), and choose the most suitable format for the stories they wish to tell.

3. feasibility of project execution

All projects must be completed by 31 December 2018 or earlier.

4. creative use of social media

Participants are encouraged to utilise appropriate channels to publicise their projects and engage with the public.

5. creative use of technology

Participants are encouraged to use various technologies to disseminate their project findings.
